Sen Wise, Ringgit Fool

Hmm..
Pretty busy with work lately.
Working on something which soon will be launched..
Anybody ever heard of TRD?
If yes, I'll post an entry regarding that.
If no, means you guys not that auto-savvy.

But, looking at the current economic condition..
well...
just cross the fingers & pray to Allah things gonna be fine, hopefully..

I received an internal circulation stating that our vacation subsidy scheme has been ceased. Although it stated temporary, I won't foresee this scheme will be re-introduced anytime soon..

Luckily I managed to claim once..
It is not big money anyway, but RM160 is still money.
For a politician, you may need RM1mil - RM50mil to make them happy,
however layman like me..getting even RM10 for free surely can bring a smile on my face. How materialistic people are....hehehe..

So that email suddenly triggered my cost-consciousness mind to calculate this:-

RM160 (max claim) x 20 staff (max per month - company-wide) x 12 month = RM38,400.

How about extending bosses' cars usage from 3 years become 6 years??
Our car claimed to be durable & reliable. Why not?
That could mean total savings of RM150,000 or an average of RM50,000 per year.
This is for one car, mind you. Just multiple with..well, 20? 30?

Instead of letting 240 staffs (20 staff x 12 months) down, why not review other areas which actually can save more (by letting down few people)??

Opss, perhaps bosses who introduced this..
Ok, I'll keep quiet then..
What is next? Dental claim? Mileage?

Auto World

Normally I will start doing my analysis once the monthly account completed (it's called closing, for the benefit of non-accounting people)

Since today is 4th and account closed usually on 5th or 6th, so I got more time for myself..hehehe..

In my earlier posting, I did mention that never across in my mind... I will be in the automotive/automobile industry. Never ever..

Even when I first joined this company, I did not really perceived Toyota as a large car manufacturer. Before the interview, I can't even name more than 3 Toyota models. Yes, to that extent!!
But of course I did my homework & confidently listed down those models when asked during the interview. Sounds a silly question, right? But it may cost me the job!!Fuhhhh...

Once I joined, then only I knew how huge Toyota is. Toyota Motor Japan (TMC) currently 2nd largest car manufacturer after General Motor in term of production but in term of profitability, it is already No.1 for the past few years. Besides Toyota City & University of Toyota, another fact that impressed me is that its annual revenue is higher that Malaysia's GDP!!

As you might read recently, recession is coming & auto industry especially in US already in the bad shape. TMC is no escape, though. I just hope this 'cloud' is quickly to move & things gonna be back as normal.

Historically, Toyota is equivalent to Ford in US. We all know very well Henry Ford who was the first invented car. In Japan, Toyoda (founder of Toyota) modified his loom machine (mesin tenun) become a car engine.
One thing I realized, Japanese is very good in copying and make things better. This is what they called Kaizen.. (But I wonder when they will start giving a good fight with Ferrari & McLaren in F1..hehe)

Sorry if you are not so keen with this posting. Too 'Jappo' I guess..hehehe..
Perhaps there is one or two lessons we can learn.

I just tried to refresh some of my little knowledge, to occupy my free time. I consider this as part of my jobscope, to boost my working motivation, before I become busy tomorrow and weeks after...hehehe....

Down Memory Lane: Things I've Done

Bila dikenang2 blk, sebenarnya aku tak penah terfikir akan terjebak dlm industri automotif ni..
"terjebak"?? Lain bebeno bunyiknye...hehehe..

Mana taknye, kebanyakkan yg keje kat kilang aku ni semuanye engineer..
Ade la 3-4 kerat grad accounting, definitely la kat Account Div.
Yg ramai kat HQ. Dulu aku kat situ gak, tp disebabkan oleh projek Vios aka dugong tu..aku tercampak ke sini..

Lps2 grad..konon2 kene keje ngan gomen, psl dah pakai JPA punye scholarship. Tunggu punya tunggu, setahun tak panggil2. Dah 2-3 kali apply SPA8..pun tak penah sangkut.. Ade sekali tu, informer aku kat Putrajaya, Pojan (org kuat puspanita ni tau!!) bagitau psl umur aku tak cukup setahun.. Masa tu diorg filter by age lak!!
Terasa bawah umur la pulak aku ni..

Agaknye bukan rezeki aku utk berkhidmat utk negara..
Tapi takpe la, asalkan dpt crk rezeki yg halal, ye tak...

Memula tu keje kat cafe kat UIA, Gallery Cafe..
(hari ni final paper, esok aku dah report duty.. tak smpt tanam anggur..hehehe)
selain jaga akaun kat situ, aku pun turun padang gak jdk waiter..
Maklum la,ade pengalaman 4 bln jdk waiter kat Sibu Island Resort..ehem..ehem..
Sape2 yg nak g honeymoon, elok la gi sini. Private island yg sungguh mendamaikan.. (tapi harga dia masya-Allah)

Lps convo, aku keje kat audit firm kat Setapak (Aizuddin & Co).
Si Acit yg recommendkan aku. Lps 2 bln, aku dpt offer
PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as an auditor.
Dia stay, aku yg blah dulu..hehehe..
(Takpe, dah keje LHDN dah mamat ni)

Masa kat PwC, puas jugak la merantau..
kene gi Port Klang, Kuching, Labuan & Lahad Datu..
Antara pengalaman yg takleh lupa, pagi2 raya haji aku mkn karipap je!kat Kuching masa tu..
Dah la kene keje psl manager dtg nak review..Tak aci betul!!!

Aku penah kena maki "bloody hell" ngan Aussie, client kitorg kat Plaza Sentral.
Sebabnya? kerusi mamat ni ilang dari blk die, staff die pinjam tak letak blk.. Pastu aku yg tak bersalah masuk nak tanya something kene sembur dan2 kat situ gak.. Mentang2 director..suka-suki je marah2 aku...
Nasib la manager aku backing & terus report kat partner.. (bukan aku yg ngadu tau..hehehe)

Selain tak tahan travelling yg excessive (w/p aku kuat berjalan), financial reporting ni aku ade kureng skt..
Keje yg ala2 mcm CSI mencari bahan2 bukti... mane tak selalu kene bambu...hehehe..
Aku ni pulak jenis lembut hati.. sekali client tarik muka masam mula la aku tak sedap hati..
Pastu asyik la blk pkl 12 mlm hari2..Tensen kepala pakcik ni....

Last2 aku pikir nak try buat management accounting plak..
Sungguhpun dulu selalu blur masa subject ni, aku suka psl focus more on decision making..

Maka si Mohammad pun hantarkan resume aku kat Toyota..
Kebetulan division aku ni mmg tgh nak recruit org.
Maka terlekat la aku kat sini..ntah utk berapa lama..

Alhamdulillah, I am still standing here..

Yes, there are low & high points...
Semua tu adat dlm kehidupan kita..
Syukur Allah masih kurniakan aku kesihatan, w/p satu ketika semasa aku terbaring kat katil.. aku terfikirkan apakah jalan hidup aku yg akan datang..

Ade yg bertanya aku, seronok ke keje company besar??
Pada aku, keberkatan & keseronokan bekerja itu yg utama..

Aku masih ingat, masa aku tolak troli utk katering, buat banquet utk function hujung2 minggu masa kat Gallery Cafe dulu..
I did enjoy it very, very much..
Namun, disebabkan tuntutan hidup & komitmen2 yg aku cipta sendiri, aku tak bole lama2 sgt kat situ..

Alhamdulillah, for this moment, aku masih mampu bertahan & tetap positif, w/p ada tikanya terfikir jugak nak melompat lebih tinggi..hehehe..

Always begin with the END in mind..

Appraisal (read as Praise Yourself)

I believe, some of us are in the midst of writing, updating or worrying about the performance appraisal (or whatever name your workplace call it). Those who do not familiar, it is the assessment of your performance.

Certainly in my office, this is talk of the month.

As said by a friend of mine "Zairy, setahun ko tak buat keje pun takpe..Yg penting ayat mesti mau power!!"

Frankly, I don't buy it. I rather have 'real' work than good points. IT IS NOT I AM THAT GOOD. Perhaps because I realized I did not perform, that is why I prefer to have average score.

When I was in audit life, each assignment should be attached with an assessment. I remembered writing 4-5 within half a year.
Luckily it is just once a year in my current employment. Even then, what a feeling to update that!!!I HATE IT MOST!!

I hate to impress anybody with my job. I hate to justify why I badly need high score. I hate people claim credits for what they did not deserved to..

Enough said. For this year's appraisal, due to my long absence (4 & 1/2 months), I put relatively poor mark for my own, in which my colleagues disagree. Definitely illness (in my case, it is cancer) is something you never wish for..
It's not that I took long leave for a vacation or something.. (Although I did travel in my final week of medical leave..hehe..sorry!!)
Quite surprising..my boss asked me to revise my score, at least to be at the average range..hmmm, should I buy her lunch?

But I have to be fair to myself & my company as well. For me, even I get half the bonus than the rest do..I think I'll be just fine. (Er..sure or not??!!hehehe). Insya-Allah, may I will always be contented for what I have..Amin..

However, all the above are purely my personal opinion. Nevertheless, I fully support friends & people who deserve to be accredited for hard-work & commitment towards the jobs. I just against those who write everything on earth just to praise themselves..

See you then..Adios & Salam..

Wallahua'lam..

Despatch who drives a Camry

"To be sitting & doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up"

I am not so sure whether this quotation is making any sense to you or not, but for me..it reminds me of somebody.

During a discussion with my colleague when we wrapped up our top management monthly report, I suddenly have this to say "I feel that our boss is more like a despatch"

It is not that I would like to insult the one sitting on 'that' chair. It's just the reality. We as the sender (the one prepare, analyze & complete the report..most importantly, take the blame for any error) & the receivers are the Top Management. So, the one who do nothing (might be an understatement.. actually 'review' for any lay-out or typo error) except that passing the report..What should we call then?

I have no ill-feeling towards anybody, really.
If you are paid RM20K++ with a company car, I don't mind being a despatch though..

No offence... Just my little thought.. Happy working everybody.. :-)
